CENTCOM (SOCOM) -- The members of the 1st Special Forces
Operational Detachment - Delta are some of the best in their field
of elite Special Operations and Counter-Terrorism. They are the tip
of America's Spear against the rising surge of terrorism that faces
many innocent lives today, and still remain a highly classified unit.
1st SFOD-D was created on November 21, 1977 to counter a strong
rise in insurgency throughout the 1970's. The government provided
resources to 1st SFOD-D to prevent homegrown terrorist activities
foreign and domestic; helping to refine modern day anti-terrorism.
The 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta remains an
elite element, assigned to Task Force 9© to ensure manpower and
direct-action capable operators. Their primary purpose within Task
Force 9© is to provide elite, tier-one capable personnel. During the
rare occasion that transport is needed, they bring the 160th SOAR.
